The 29th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade will be held on Main Street on Saturday, March 11, 2017. This one-day, rain or shine event brings approximately 30,000 to celebrate being Irish and welcome the coming of spring. A parade begins the day at 9:00 a.m., followed by three stages of live music and a children’s area with rides and amusements from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Along Main Street approximately 150 vendors will display their crafts, services, information, products, or serve a variety of treats.

Event Parking

 Parade & Festival Parking
Spectators gathering to watch the parade should be in place by 8:20 a.m.  Main Street will close to vehicular traffic promptly at 8:30 a.m.  The parade will begin at 8:50 a.m.
Ocean Boulevard will be open to vehicular traffic until 8:30 a.m. and is expected reopen around 11:30 a.m., immediately following the parade.  Main Street from Ash Street to Ocean Blvd. will remain closed after the parade and become the festival area.

Contests

29th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival T-Shirt Design Contest. 

The public is invited to create a t-shirt design for the 29th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival souvenir t-shirt. The winner will receive a $100 Walmart gift card, and their design will be printed on the official 2017 St. Patrick’s Day souvenir t-shirt. The winner will also be recognized at the festival.

Beginning in March, the souvenir t-shirts will be available for purchase at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center, 1030 Possum Trot Road, North Myrtle Beach.

The shirts will also be sold during the March 11th parade and festival on Main Street. Supplies of the souvenir t-shirts are limited.

29th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival Leprechaun Contest

Show off your love of all things Irish by competing in the 29th Annual St. Patricks Day Parade & Festival Leprechaun Contest. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, appearance, enthusiasm and energy.

Register at the Main Stage @ Flynn’s Irish Tavern before 2:00 pm. Pre-registration is also avilable at the Festival Information booth (corner of Hillside Drive and Main Street) before 1:30 pm. Meet at the stairs of the Main Stage on festival site at 2:00 pm. Contest begins at 2:15 pm.

There will be a grand prize winner. In addition to holding the title of the 29th Annusal St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival Leprechaun, the St. Patrick’s Day website will feature the winner’s name and brief bio. The winner also recieves a $100 gift card to WalMart, an event t-shirt and a souvenir of achievement.

Official Rules & Application
Participants must be 18 years or older, must register and be dressed in a leprechaun/Irished themed costume, and must grant permission to the City of North Myrtle Beach to publoish photos for promotion and release of liability. Contest is open to the general public. No purchase necessary to participate.

Congratulations again to Michael Walsh, the 28th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival Leprechaun. Leprechauns were judged on originality, creativity, appearance, enthusiasm and energy.

29th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Shepard’s Pie Eating Contest

Think you have what it takes? Enter into the Shepherd’s Pie Eating Contest at this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival on Saturday, March 11th, 2017. First to clear their plate (without using their hands) wins bragging rights and a stylish plaque designed by Coastal Engravers.
