Captain Aaron Best began his career with NMBDPS as a Public Safety Officer in 2004 after graduating from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He has a master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in Criminal Justice Administration. He transferred to the Training Division in 2012 and became the Training Sergeant in 2015. After his years in the Training Division, he was promoted in 2020 to the Rank of Lieutenant where he supervised the operations of the Training Division, Bravo Battalion and Police Recruitment. He was a member of the Department Honor Guard from 2011 to 2017. He was promoted to Captain in June of 2023 where he serves in an administrative capacity overseeing many of the Department’s projects. Captain Best is a graduate of the South Police Institute’s 94th Command Officer Development Course. He is married and has a son who recently graduated from the University of South Carolina.
