Volunteer Opportunities

North Myrtle Beach (NMB) Parks and Recreation is looking for individuals that are motivated and want to give back to their community. With the ever-growing offerings of Parks and Recreation, the need for volunteers is more crucial now than ever! Volunteers are needed throughout the year to help with many projects, special events, cleanups, races, and more. Volunteers are welcomed as individuals or as part of a group, on a one-time or ongoing basis, and hours are flexible. Please call today to discover how you can give back to your community.

Opportunities

Please review our list of volunteer opportunities for Special Events/Festivals and their descriptions:

  • Ambassador - Must have knowledge of NMB area, able to answer questions in a professional and courteous manner
  • Finish Line - Encourage and motivate runners, water distribution, monitor runners post-race
  • Leader - Assist event organizer where needed:
    • Information booth, program stations, manage stage schedule, and count participants
    • Run program stations within event (treasure hunt, leprechaun contest, etc.)
    • Set-up, interact with participants, cleanup program stations
  • Check-In/Set-up - assist festival vendors/parade entries in checking in for event, finding their space, keeping event set-up area clear, answer questions, and move tables, chairs, tents, signage, and decorate event area
  • Clean up - Assist in all aspects of event take down:
    • Chairs
    • Clean-up
    • Move Tables
    • Signage
    • Tents
    • Trash Removal
    • Undecorate
  • Course Monitors - Keep runners safe from vehicular traffic at road intersections, monitor the course for safety, encourage and motivate runners
  • Marshall - Placed along the parade route for spectator safety, help keep pace of parade steady, answer spectator questions
  • Water Station - Assist with setup, water distribution, and cleanup

Volunteer Coaches

North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation is also looking for volunteer coaches for our youth sports programs. Coaches are required to manage practices and games for their players and parents. Volunteers are to emphasize on teaching the skills and rules of the game while maintaining a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for the athletes and parents.
